1. Who we are
Heritage of Pakistan ("we", "us", "our") is a platform dedicated to documenting, exploring, and preserving the cultural and natural heritage sites of Pakistan. Our website is available at heritageofpakistan.org.
2. Information we collect
- Account information: When you sign in with Google or Apple, we receive your name, email address, and profile picture from your chosen provider.
- Usage data: Pages visited, searches performed, sites saved to wishlists or trip plans, and reviews you write.
- Device information: Browser type, operating system, and approximate location (country/region) for analytics purposes.
- Photos you upload: Photos contributed to heritage site galleries are stored securely and attributed to your account.
3. How we use your information
- To provide and personalise your experience on the platform.
- To save your trips, wishlists, bookmarks, and reviews across sessions and devices.
- To improve our heritage database and site recommendations.
- To send occasional transactional emails (e.g. account confirmation, password reset). We do not send marketing emails without explicit consent.
- To detect and prevent fraudulent or abusive activity.
4. Data sharing
We do not sell your personal data. We share data only with:
- Supabase — our backend and database provider, which stores your account and content data securely.
- Vercel — our hosting provider, which processes web requests.
- Google / Apple — solely for the purpose of authenticating your identity when you choose to sign in through them.
- Google — if you accept analytics cookies, we use Google Analytics to understand aggregate, anonymised usage of the site.
- Microsoft — if you accept analytics cookies, we use Microsoft Clarity to understand how visitors interact with pages (e.g. heatmaps), to improve usability.
- Law enforcement or regulatory authorities where required by applicable law.
5. Cookies
We use two kinds of cookies and similar technologies:
- Essential cookies keep you signed in and the site working. These are always active and do not require consent, as the site cannot function without them.
- Optional analytics cookies (Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity) help us understand how the site is used so we can improve it. These load only if you choose "Accept" on the cookie banner shown on your first visit. If you choose "Reject", no analytics cookies are set and these tools never load.
You can also disable cookies in your browser settings, though this may affect some functionality. To change your earlier choice, clear this site's data in your browser and the consent banner will appear again.
6. Data retention
We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. You may delete your account at any time from your Account Settings, which permanently removes your personal information from our systems within 30 days.
7. Your rights
Depending on your jurisdiction you may have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data, or to object to or restrict certain processing. To exercise any of these rights, email us at heritageofpakistan.org@gmail.com.
8. Children
Heritage of Pakistan is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with their data, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by posting the new policy on this page with an updated "Last updated" date.
