What we do
To document, explore and help preserve the remarkable heritage of Pakistan — and to make it open to everyone.
Pakistan holds one of the richest concentrations of human heritage on earth — from the Indus Valley cities of Mohenjo-daro and Harappa, to Gandhara's Buddhist monasteries, the Mughal forts and gardens of Lahore, the Sufi shrines of Sindh, the colonial-era architecture of its cities, and the soaring natural landscapes of the north. Much of it is under-documented, poorly known, or quietly disappearing.
Heritage of Pakistan is an independent, non-commercial project working to change that — one site at a time.
We build a careful, well-sourced record of Pakistan's cultural and natural heritage: its history, significance, location, and present condition — paired with original photography. Our goal is a single, trustworthy reference that treats each place with the seriousness it deserves.
Knowledge that no one can find helps no one. We make heritage genuinely explorable — by region, by type, on an interactive map, and through curated trip ideas — so that a student, a traveller, a researcher or a curious local can all discover these places and, we hope, go and see them.
Preservation begins with attention. A place that is recorded, valued and visited is far harder to neglect than one that is forgotten. By raising the visibility of Pakistan's heritage — and by documenting the laws that protect it — we hope to play a small part in keeping it standing for the next generation.
Heritage of Pakistan is built by a small, independent team — not an institution or a company. Learn more about the people behind the project, see how we document heritage, or get in touch.
